Thread: My first boat scale 1/700. HMS Victory

Default My first boat scale 1/700. HMS Victory

I present my first work in scale 1/700. This is the HMS Vicotry from Meridian brand.
Sails have been handmade to give greater realism. I have done some damage in sails because I want to represent the ship in the early part of the battle of Trafalgar. Soon I'll post more photos of the ship.
I also added a comparative picture of this ship with a ship of Sail of Glory, scale 1/1000.

    I hope you like she!

    Best regards,
    Julián

Are the sails totally homemade, or are they the sails that come with the kit and you have remodelled them as you required ?

That deck is fantastic, but wouldn't the boats be in the sea?
That's one of the things I love about your smaller ships. The boats trailing behind.

To make the sails I used the dimensions of the sails of Meridian but they are made of mastic of modeling and then with different types of yarn I have made structural ropes and halyards.

Jonas Do not worry, I will set over the sea the two ships that were hanging from the pulleys on the sides of the stern. The boats that were on the deck not always down on the sea. To get down these boats had its advantages and disadvantages. For example down all lifeboats allowed you a completely unobstructed deck but do not give coverage, the life boats were used as bulwark against possible approaches.
A disadvantage of lowering the lifeboats was they acted as anchors and reduced speed of ships. In Trafalgar Nelson wanted a move as quickly as possible to break enemy lines.

Yes, but in battle they get shot to pieces if left on deck and they keep the smoke on the gun deck from being blown away.

I look forward to seeing it finished!
