Default Ares Games Paint and Photo Contest

I just received an email announcement about this today although the contest appears to have been running since April 1st. Lots of painters and modelers here and on the Aerodrome might be interested. You do have to join Ares Official Group on Facebook, but there are options for Instagram as well. See below for details and rules.

FIRST ARES GAMES PAINT AND PHOTO CONTEST!
It's not the right time for jokes, so let's do something fun and serious instead!
We all have a little more time on our hands as we #stayathome, and many of you are taking advantage of this extra time to paint and post beautiful minis from our games, such as Sword & Sorcery, Galaxy Defenders, WAR OF THE RING, or beautiful mods for Wings of Glory Miniature Game or Battlestar Galactica - Starship Battles.
    So, here are the rules...

UNTIL APRIL 10th - join the Ares Games Official Group and comment on the "First Ares Games Paint and Photo Contest Gallery" pinned post and uploading a photo featuring your paint or modeling creation based on one of our games (any game featured on http://www.aresgames.eu/games qualifies as "ours" even if from a partner).
If you are not a great modeler or painter - Just do a great photo and post it. Our games are beautiful to photograph even in their original format!

A jury composed of the home-working Ares Games team will then select the 8 best entries (entries can be judged on either the quality of the item or the quality of the photo). On APRIL 15th we will announce the selected entries, and they will compete against each other in a "social battle," with our followers - you - voting for them.

The winner will receive a gift coupon of $ 300 value and 3 runner-ups will each receive a gift coupon of $ 100 value.

If you are on Instagram, share the foto on your IG with the tags #aresgames #2020photocontest and the name of the game. If you win a prize and you posted your photo on Instagram, too, you will get an extra $ 50 coupon.

To make the contest more fun, please share this post with your friends, so we can get a thousand beautiful photos!

    Thanks Jim.
Although it seems to mention just about everything bar Sails, I'm sure we have some repaints worthy of a showing.
Have a go shipmates. All you have to lose is your reputation!

It would be nice if there was a way to send them to Ares so that they could post them for folks not keen on Facebook. I'd like to support Ares, but not willing to join FB.

Hey Rob, I actually posted a photo I did here years back of HMS Terpsichore and HMS Bellona vs the Black Pearl. Already got a like from Roberto. By the way you can post via Instagram if you're not on Facebook. Instructions are also above.

Celebrating seven years on the Anchorage! Where did the time go!?!

Instagram is another option. I could also ask if I'd be allowed to post for those not on FB or Instagram?

Hi Dobbs. I got a direct reply from Roberto saying that posting for anyone was fine. Just post a photo on this thread and I'll copy and paste onto Facebook. Roberto also says you should definitely include some name for recognition of the photo.

While I'm not a huge fan of Fakebook the brutal truth is to stay informed with certain businesses, organizations and/or friends this is the only option available. As for privacy in this day and age if you have a cell phone or any internet connection you're already at risk.

I understand Jim, but try to minimise all my " dangerous" connections. No on line banking, no mobile phone, and no open forum membership save this and the Drome.
Never needed it before and don't need it now. Just use the semaphore flags etc when I need to contact anyone. Oh! I do have a land line.

I see Jonas has posted a photo on FB. Dobbs, and anyone else who'd like a SoG photo shared, just place the photo here and I'll make sure it gets up on the Ares FB page. The content ends in on April 10th.

Hey Dobbs. The photo sharing contest is one per person. I can split this into two, one for you and one for Suzanne if you like? Contest ends today so let me know asap which two you'd like. Remember that they're at least five hours ahead of us time wise. Cheers.

Rob, do you have a larger image of the "Fireship"? This photo is only 5 kb, so it's going to be really small. I can increase it with a photo editor but it will lose resolution.

Rob, I'm not sure when they cut off the contest so I went ahead and used the image you'd listed. If you find a higher resolution one I'll try to submit that later?

So, all images that have been posted here are now up on Facebook. Thanks!

Don't bother with it. Thanks for doing your best I'm not really worried about taking part. Just sorry to take up your time.

Just checked Ares Facebook page and they've narrowed the contest down to 8 photos. Unfortunately, not one was from the Sails of Glory line and only one from Wings of Glory. Thanks for sharing your photos!
