    Hi Travis
Can tell you only a little about the rank structure on the anchorage. There are "promotions" at certain levels of log entries, eg 100,500. Part of the enjoyment of the site is the hidden nature of promotions. There are medals to be had for donations, achievements in postings, photos and helping the site manager and they give you "guns" whilst reputation points for articles, photos etc are awarded by other members that have appreciated your efforts. I cant explain the significance of reputration points or guns but no doubt in time all will be revealed.

There are landsmen, ordinary seamen, midshipmen, 2nd Lt and presumably 1st Lt on the site..no-one has gone beyond that yet as it is still early days.

In terms of historical ranks see

Well, it looks like Daniel has done an admirable job explaining the ranks. I'ld say he has a good command of them, and anything I would add would seem petty and be of fleeting interest. So I'll keep my thought private, not wanting to cause major confusion that would warrant some form of corporal punishment or marshal folks against me. So I will depart and listen to a little Lionel Richie and the Commodores.
