    Summary:
This is the second volume of marine art works by Geoff Hunt published in 2012 and comes in a square format hard back 144 page book. There are about 150 illustrations and paintings.

The author covers six "case studies" of naval artworks, they are
    HMS Bulwark 2005 Fleet Review
    The Mary Rose
Jack Aubrey's Port Mahon in 1800
    The battle of the Nile
Chasing the Rainbow (USS United States)
Nelson in the Dragon's Mouth (HMS Victory in Trinidad)

He describes the methods for setting up the ideas of each work, sketches, models of the ships positions to get perspective correct and lots of other painting techniques to get the light, shading and seascapes accurate. Each "study" begins with the final painting then traces it's evolution.

For those of us who wonder how people come up with such beautiful naval images for galleries, book covers, web sites and the like this book is a great glimpse into the work involved in producing such enjoyable art.

I think this is one for me. I really enjoy Age-of-Sail marine art.
