Default End of the 2024 Summer of Plunder Campaign

Played the last game of Blood & Pigment’s 2024 Summer of Plunder. The campaign uses Firelock Games Blood & Plunder pirate skirmish rules.

    Close quarters action before boarding.

Apparently some of Wabanaki used ships.

Something I always fancied was a larger scale ship to ship action, but I never quite got around to it Paul.
looks like a lot of fun.
    Thanks for posting this.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

It is a lot of fun.

Units are from 4 to 15 models. At the beginning of each turn a player draws a hand of playing cards. The turn consists of rounds where each player chooses a card from their hand. The player with the higher card (suit and then value) has the initiative and can choose to activate a unit. The higher the suit the fewer actions the chosen unit is allowed; so there's a decision to be made on whether or not one wants the initiative or more actions.

The sailing stuff is pretty good for a game of this type - you need units to man the sheets and braces, sweeps, guns, etc. There's also advanced maneuvers, like tacking, box hauling, wearing, etc. which requires a test for success - having a unit with sailor or expert sailor will make those maneuvers easier.

The game is very well supported by Firelock Games and others like, Blood & Pigment...the Summer of Plunder (9 weeks of gaming that ends this week) is one great example. Lots of prizes are given out - even ships.

Here's the report for week 8 - I got the "photo of the week" award!

For week 5, I was "featured player" - no prize, just the honour, but that was enough.

You'll need to scroll down on those web pages as there's a lot of info there.
