    Red face 1v1v1v1

    Yesterday, I, my son, my son in law, and my nephew tried a game with 1v1v1v1. We played England, France, Spain and America, at 250 points each (one 3rd rate + one 4th/5th rate each). It was an interesting set up, where we began in each of the four corners of a 90 cm x 90 cm play mat, facing the center, and with random wind (determined after setup). We were looking to play "last man standing", but unfortunately we weren't able to finish the game because of time constraints. It was great fun, and interesting to see how the game played out with the four of us brawling together in the center, eventually. I seriously love the "Well-trained Gunners" crew!

    Anyone else with experience from such a setup of a game?

    A pirates game," None for all and all for one". Four Pirate ships. Treasure on some of the six islands. The last ship left can take home any treasure recovered by itself or any of the other ships it captures. Those sunk go down with any treasure they have recovered. If time runs out the ship with the greatest amount of treasure wins the game. To recover treasure any ship adjacent to an island must dwell there for six cards time to search for the treasure. Not all treasure chests have the same amount of goodies!

    Sounds like great fun, even if it may be far from the "historic" approach. What do you use for treasure? Do you have coins from Wizkids Pirates lying around? I have a lot of that, perhaps I should try using some of it this way.

    Could also perhaps be interesting to further this model by making it a campaign of several "chapters"? Where you start with a sloop each, gather gold and use it to purchase more ships? And play several games, one after another? Something to think about, at least.

    Cards to turn over with this sort of thing Just add what its value is on the card and then place it under the islands you select. other islands can have no cards or cards with empty broken open chests or skeletons in the hole. it is as broad a selection as your imagination can stretch. For instance bottles of booze can be dug up and intoxicate the crew thus preventing them from functioning for a certain number of moves etc.

    I went up to the attic and fetched some Wizkids Pirates treasure tokens from my storage box there. Now I need to think out some fun house rules we can play by :-)
