Just finished rigging and basing these... I've updated the "Official 17th Century Ships" post to replace the unrigged ships with the rigged ones.

Now they look like ships with real attitude Paul.

The ratlines and the rigging of the two ships in the first two pictures looks awesome. Well done, Shadow Dragon!

Aside from working on my big plastic ship, this is what's on my workbench for the month; dressing up 3 frigates, 4 hulls provided by Eric (De Ruyter), and a bit of land.

Your bit of land looks quite like my bit of land in mirror image Dobbs.

    That looks splendid Jonas.
I wish I had aquired those skills, but they were only just being introduced in their simplest format when I retired otherwise I would have mastered them.
    Well done sir, well done.

I have used Henry Turners figureheads and modified them to fit the Swedish originals. That is I don’t make them from scratch.

I can only join the Admiral in his praise - very impressive!

Nevertheless Captain that is a feat to be applauded.

I'm sure the figure on the bow does David. You just have to skirt round it.

They do, but the heels could have been more pronounced. There are on the other hand a bit of a lack of hands on some of them. Just a stump ending up on a sword.

They will be so small that most details will be lost anyway.

Dressing up three 74's. Each country paints their yards a different color to aid identification.

Looking very fine Dobbs. I like your understated ship mat cards and the idea for recognising your nationalities from any direction.

I’m off to Italy soon for another trip on La Grace and then there’s LinCon where I will hold Sails of Glory so it’ll be a while before I can paint them properly…

Hi Dobbs, just checking if this is true or just your own idea. I do have plans to paint some of my ships and wondered if there were national differences in how masts, yards and topsides were painted.

This is more artistic license than historic fact. I believe that some navies started embracing standardization towards the end of our period.

Thanks, that's a shame, I quite like the idea.
