What's on Your Workbench for September 2023?
The craggy coastline of New England, completely unlike the Chesapeake (still very nice), was quite inspiring for SoG terrain, and now that we have returned from our voyage it's time to fire up the imagination.
Today's project was to pick a collection of redwood chips, cut out some sheet styrene bases, and primer the lot. Now to go back to my photos for local color.
What an inspired idea Dobbs. Lookas much better than the cork bark I use.
Reminds me of the stratified layers of the beaches along the Jurassic coast.

Digesting Spanish Warships in the Age of Sail and trying to put together some notes on aces of the WWII PTO and suggested abilities. If Ares takes my suggestions, we may occasionally see Wings aces/Sails captains with NEGATIVE abilities based on historical performance... for example, my proposed Pappy Boyington card in development his plane ALWAYS starts with one point of damage to represent how he would always inspect every plane his squadron had on the flight schedule and take the one he considered in worst shape for himself so his men would have confidence in their own.

More progress is being made. I'm trying to find a not too sparse/not too lush middle ground. Shrubs to come later.
Coming down the home stretch. I've either got enough shrubs or need just a little bit more. I'm in the 'staring at it' phase. I'm inclined toward more, but going back is hard.
I think they look just fine Dobbs. Less is more in this case.

Ditto what Rob and Jonas said. Sometimes the hardest part of detailing is knowing when it's time to stop. :)

Aargh! I added a bit more shrubbery after all, then ran out the door to prepare for our Fall cruise on Grace, so it's going to be a bit before I can post finished pictures.
The preliminaries started well last weekend, with a victory at a local yacht club.
Next weekend we rendezvous for the Havre de Grace Invitational race off Turkey Point.

In a week and a half, we get to join the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race in the non-schooner fleet for a 150 mile race down the Bay.

After that, we knock around the Bay. It will be a month and a half until I get to see my islands again.
