    Default New Transom

I like everything about the Concorde frigates except the transom.

The only practical thing to do is to change it. Here's my first attempt with MS Paint and some decal paper.

I like the hint of camber to the deck and the more traditional looking windows.

Some work still needs done in sizing, but it's looking promising.

Doing scratchbuild and having difficulty with sterns, will watch keenly. Luck Dobbs.

PS I was pointed out to your solo rules in another thread, they’re amazing.

Thanks Jed! If you have any questions or input regarding them, please share. I'm always trying to improve them.

Indeed that looks a great improvement Dobbs. You would think that with all the decal work I have done with aircraft, I would have smoked this for ships, but the idea never even entered my head. I will watch this space with baited breath. Could be just the incentive I need to get back onto my ship conversions.

This morning's progress, more camber and a bit more height.

    Even better.
Will you be making this available for copying by the rest of us?

Thank you, Rob and Chris, for the rep points!

Of course I will post the finished design for all to use and enjoy.

I suffered a setback today when I painted the background of the transom dark and the colors of the decal couldn't be seen clearly. The transom is currently getting repainted lighter.

Just for reference, I have access to an A4 lazer printer, which I understand means coating the finished decal with lacquer to seal is not needed.

Now I just need you to move closer! I bought some lacquer earlier today.

I created this in Paint, then cut and pasted it into LibreOffice, my free version of Microsoft Office. Once there, I scaled it to 0.31 inches and made multiple copies for clumsy fingers.

This one went on Courageuse. It's my intention to do two more that blend into the transoms of the other 2 non-Kickstarter frigates. Nothing personal, I just don't have that one.

Whoops, I forgot, there are 3 non-Kickstarter frigates.

That is something I will certainly have a go at Dobbs.
I only got my kickstarter Frigates when Keith had some for sail a year or so ago.

If anyone gives it a try, I'd love to see pictures posted here.

Incidentally, I found that the transoms have to be painted a light color for the decal to show up well.

Here's the last two. I'm not as satisfied with them. The blue just didn't work as much as I would like, and my white paint got all clumpy on Sirena's transom. Still, I like my windows better overall.
