    Just about sums it up in a nutshell for new sailors here to get an idea about what it was all about without going too deeply into all the ins and outs for a beginner.
    The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

    It was pretty short alright. I have read much more in depth accounts but, as you say, this is a good basic summary for those new to the era.
