Does anyone know where I could order some American Frigates in the correct scale from please? It would be nice to have a battle using one of them.

I thought I had cracked this in my own lazy way because HMS Sybille is painted in the same colours as the USS Constitution. Ergo all I have to do is buy a Sybille and get someone with a colour printer to print me a US flag for gluing over the RN one. But then I looked at Wiki and the dimensions of the American vs a Hebe and found the Constitution was double the length and nearly 3 times the displacement so .... Maybe the Special Ship Pack USS Constitution is the right scale after all.

Let sleeping dogs lie I reckon.

I have mackled together my American Squadron from the nearest British ships to the correct size, sometimes with a bit of cut and shunt Gary, but for Constitution and her sister ships have had to use the existing Ares models.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Constitution should be 175', IIRC the Ares model is 197' due to a typo in the first edition of BWAS 1793-1817. Correct would be a model somewhere between the ~165' of a 74 and the ~185' of a three-decker.

Seconded, as an adjunct to the captured ship data in BWAS 1714-1792 and 1793-1815 Second Edition.

Thanks for your replies guys. I bought one of Paul H Silverstone's books, US Warships of WWII back in 1966 and it is still on my bookshelf. I am thinking I will take a trip to our CBD and their second hand book stores might be a good idea.

Chris, I do not own a 3D printer but one of my gaming buddies does. I might ask him next Tuesday night (games night).
