Default I'm Going to Be a Highland Laddie !

Two weeks to our departure to visit my daughter in Scotland (she's a graduate student at the Royal Conservatoire) -- due to COVID we haven't seen her in a long time -- thanks Boris for relaxing all the protocols in time for our visit. We've booked a trip on the Paddle Steamboat Waverly for a portion of our time -- its the last sea going paddle steamer afloat. We will cruise down the Clyde and briefly out into the Firth of Clyde before putting into the seaport of Greenock for a bit before returning to Glagow. Here are some videos and information about the ship:

Also booked a trip up into the Highlands -- not sure that makes me a Highland Laddie (my maternal grandmother was from the lowland clan Kerr):

    Can you tell I'm excited?

Enjoy your trip to Scotland Bill.
My Paternal Grandmother was a Stuart from Fifeshire. Guess I should really be sailing as a Jacobite for the French or Spanish Navy!

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

Hope you have a great time Bill, sorry there was nothing available show wise so we could have met you. Maybe another time.

Hi Chris, Yes I am sorry there are no shows either -- was hoping to meet some of my colleagues on both the Sails and Wings sites. My last trip over to see my daughter (2 Christmases ago) the Glasgow District Wargame Society gave me a terrific 28mm Seven Year's War game using Black Powder rules -- unfortunately their club meet dates correspond with our arrival and departure days, so no gaming for me on this trip. If all remains stable we hope to be back during the Christmas- New Year's season.
    Cheers,
    Bill

Thanks Jonas, I sure had fun. Here are a couple of more photos from the game. I hope to game Sails and Wings in the UK someday when events allow.

Takes me back to the last time we re-enacted at Prestonpans Bill.
    Lovely setup.

Hi Rob -- I found this video of the 2018 Prestonpans reenactment -- are you in this one?

We would not be in that because we haven't done Prestonpans for ten years.
We did however see that Bonnie Prince Charlie Embroidery on the other clip. Eileen bought the book too and got the designer and quite a few of the embroiderers to autograph it. One of our members, Paul, was actually depicted in it.

Well....here are some OLDER images of the battle reenactment....perhaps you lent your dulcet pear shaped tones to the sound track ? (-:
