    Default Another year passes.

On a lighter note, my second birthday under Covid rules came and went.
Here are the presents which I did not open early.
A nice bottle of Pink Gin from Captain Smythe.
Yet more ships and some more KR storage from number one son, plus a CD.

Then there was the largest set of presents I have ever had from Mrs Bligh.
If you can't guess the contents I will post the answer tomorrow.

Well if I were being serious (so very hard for me) I would guess the long rectangular package contains a halberd, spontoon, or pike....

Another parcel arrived today. This time from Bill in the States.
When I opened it, I was speechless, which as some of you will be aware is unheard of for me.
Here was a present which I will prize and cherish alongside the one I have from the Buckeye gamers presented to me when we hosted Karl at Doncaster.

You cut a dashing figure, Rob. I figured you needed the proper head wear to command that spiffy looking US squadron of yours.

Arrr! Such sartorial splendor and mad hattery that it's more than suited for an Admiral of the Fleet - good enough for a pirate I dare say....or rather, avast, belay that, and thar be gold aplenty, Rob.

No slippers, Bill, but I do see a 'tie' - but was the umbrella and stand a free bonus that came with the tie?

Don't fall for the trap, Bill. It's like your last wish being to have three more wishes and suddenly you end up in a Ground Hog day movie.

    Late to the party, Rob.

So a belated happy birthday, Sir.

Question: Those pads that fix the umbrella are filled with water or sand?

I used to fix mine with exposed aggregate concrete slabs. (In case of strong winds...)

Thanks for your Birthday wishes Sven.

Those pads are Cast Iron and weigh 25 kilos each. Should hold in an Autumnal storm in the Bay of Biscay.

Thanks Vol. I have done very well this year, although not so prolific in ships, I do have Henry's delivery with which to look forward.

Another late comer here: Happy Birthday Rob!

Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome is about 30 minutes from my parents house. A wonderful place especially for WoG players and WWI buffs. The show is a bit cheesy, perhaps intentionally! However the museum and flying replicas are quite nice. They have 2 1920s vintage mail planes that take passengers for a flight over the Hudson river. I took my dad for his birthday one year, sadly one was out for maintenance and the other had been hit by a plane on the ground so both were out of action! Someday I hope to get back out there.

    Hi Eric,
I live about 30 minutes South of the aerodrome -- my daughter takes me there for the WWI dogfight show every year for my birthday/Father's Day (they fall in the same week), but not this year -- my daughter returned to grad school in the UK about a week ago -- the wailing you may hear down in Delaware is our household's response to that......
