Default Sailor's Leisure Time at Sea

Here are links from the USS Constitution Museum with information on leisure time at sea -- a) the "Historian at Home" series contains info on music onboard "Old Ironsides" b) the Museum's blog discusses reading on board, and c) links to items from the museum collections about leisure time at sea:

    a) Historian at Home video on music onboard:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0wErtn4IMg&t=319s

    b) Museum's Blog on reading onboard:

    c) Links to items from the museum's collections regarding leisure time at sea (scroll to bottom of page for complete inventory of items):

Another nostalgic look at the life and times of Constitutions sailors, and a reflection on sailors of many nations off duty and even duty time. Strange to say I have two of the writing slopes like the on depicted. Alas mine has no ink bottle. Maybe somthing which I should remedy.
    Thanks for the links Bill.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

I have a writing slope as well -- left over from my re-enacting days. Mine has no ink bottle either.
