    Book Title:
    Cat Island
    Author:
    Jon Williams
    ISBN:
    0-440-11109-9
    Category:
    Fiction
    Format:
    Paperback
    Summary:
Cat Island is the fifth and final book of the Privateers and Gentleman series. Williams blends fiction with actual history in telling his stories. Cat Island is set during the War of 1812 and unites the cousins Favian Markam, from books three and four, and Gideon Markham, from book two, during the Battle of New Orleans. A good book with an American twist to it for the fans of O'Brian and Forester's works.

Just completed reading these books on your recommendation Bobby, and found them not only most entertaining but a refreshing change from the Anglo centered view of most novels of the period. It gave me a good insight as to what was going on at the other side of the Atlantic.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
