    The Yankee is the second book of five in the Privateers and Gentleman series. Williams blends fiction with actual history in telling his stories. The Yankee is set during the War of 1812 with its hero being the fictional privateer Gideon Markham, the son of Josiah Markham from the first book in the series. Gideon Markham is a pious, teetotaler who prohibits the use of profanity and the consumption of spirits on his ship. A good book with an American twist to it for the fans of O'Brian and Forester's works.
