Default No ships yet, but islands !

    Hi to all,
I'm new in SoG, but an old fan od WoW / WoG.

At the moment I'm still waiting for the base set, it's on arrival from UK.
...but my two sons and I can't wait any more, so we just start to print out some pieces of coasts and islands....

I do like Dino. To such a degree that your efforts are about to gain you your first Rep points on the Anchorage.

Base set is arrived a week ago, after some match agains my sons the game appears really fashinating.
At the moment we aren't yet with the full set of rules, but we are adding one by one, to better understand the mechanisms.

Few estetical things that I don't like:
    - masts in light yellow
    - the ships does not remain fixed on the bases, it's dangerouse because are very fragile
    - the quality of the models are IMHO a bit worst than WoG.

    Other impressions will follow.

I agree with your summation Dino.

Whenever some of us get the chance we redo the mast colours and darken the sails for the British ships to imitate the weathering and hard usage that the British had on blockade. Adding rigging and ratlines helps to reinforce the weak masts. We also have a little "How to" on mending broken masts. As for the bases. Those of us who have two copies of the ship tend to glue the ships in permanently to avoid them falling off. For those of you not so blessed, Keith does a semi permanent glue for the flight pegs on aircraft. You might like to give that a try.

I use Blu-tac or something similar to keep the ships attached to the base.
As has been said the masts can be touched up, I use a canary yellow and/ or Averland Sunset.
My military ships I paint the yards black, also I am currently looking into details that the mast tips may also be painted black from the fighting top to the tip, just not confirmed if this correct or not.

A mine of information as usual.
