Is the sea blue ? How about the sky ? The Ancient Greeks didn't think so...

I would say that gives a definitive answer and a fair range of colours from which to choose.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

It could well be but it’s the setting and the clear water that I love.

    hello Gentlemen

A thread about holiday pictures? :)

I think its is all a question of the refraction of light, water deepth, soil texture. From a large height, for example when parachute, the whole thing looks different again. The same goes for scuba diving.

    Regards
    Marco

I am sure that you are totally right Marco.
I am just astounded that surrounded by sea those Ancient Greeks did not take a bit more effort to describe the many and varied hues. After all they wax lyrical about most other things.

Don't know Bill never been to either. How about Swanage and Chapel St Leonards, I have been to both of those.

I understand in Torquay you can see herds of Wildebeest sweeping majestically over the horizon...

From Milford-On-Sea you can see Hurst Castle...I once saw a shark swimming just off the beach there. No wonder I didn’t catch any fish that day.

For a couple of years I lived in an apartment on the High St, just a few dozen yards from the Smugglers Inn pub
