    Default Nugget Checking In....

Permission to come aboard! Reporting for duty at The Anchorage.

I have been collecting Sails of Glory Ships since it was first published and have amassed a fleet of over 45 vessels. While that might sound like an accomplishment, permit me to point out that I said "collecting" and not playing. Although I am in two local gaming clubs here in Alabama, sustained Sails of Glory play is hit or miss. I am hoping to rekindle interest in one of my groups (in which there are at least two other "collectors").

Although it might be heretical to mention in this forum, I have been more than tinkering with the idea of conducting some fleet actions with Sail of Glory minis, using GMT's Flying Colors rules. I'd be very happy to speak with other folks here who have done this, or provide what I have done to those who are interested. I am still working on obtaining a suitably sized hex mat, but I will be glad to post pictures of any battles my local folks stage in future posts.

IRL, I am a retired US Navy veteran (but the wrong flavor I am afraid - former Airdale). And more by way of introduction, I have been friends with Dobbs since we were in the 5th Grade. Since I live in Alabama and he in Maryland, I was quite pleased to discover that he was an active member of this fine crew.

I've probably rambled on too long already. In the wardrooms I have been a member, the XO usually asks the new guy to tell a joke. "So, there once was this girl from...." [drat, there's the TOS]. Perhaps, one day I will finish over a beer, IRL.

    Respectfully,

    John

PS: Please forgive the anachronisitic Avatar. Still enjoy the story of the Graf Spee....

Another welcome to you John. There is very little heretical that you can say on this site. We are open to most forms of game discussion, and marrying of rules and new ideas. We even encourage it on the Unofficial rules forum, which engenders some of the most lively debate at the Anchorage.
Hope to see you in the Wardroom later.
    Rob.
The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

A more formal welcome from me, here in Sweden.

I hope you will find useful ideas and practical tips on the site.

At least perhaps a good story or two in the Solo campaign section. There are good ideas for scenarios with more than one player too.
