    Default Construction of Fort Niebla.

With Manzanera Island in the spray shop, I decided to crack on with Fort Niebla.
Here I was lucky in two respects. There was an 18th century plan and I had enough parts left from the San Pedro build.

Scaling up the plan I fitted the parts which needed little fettling over the plan.

Next I cut a plasti-card base to the shape of the fort plan and assembled the parts

The next job will be fitting and gluing the walls in place.

By lunchtime today I was at the stage of gluing base to the terrain. Should be ready for an all over PVA seal tonight.
Meantime I will position the forts guns and start to paint the village.

Overnight I applied a stiff layer of PVA to the whole model excepting the beach.

Well here's the end of the jolly old process. Town painted and glued down.
Just a windmill and church on their way from the supplier to add.
Now its off to the shop for a first coat of varnish overnight.

I set up the Approaches to Valdivia this afternoon so that you could see the final layout with the three principal forts in position. Remember also that there are the forts Amargos, San Carlos and Ingles as well as a couple of lesser batteries further downstream.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
