    Just needs a flag shifting.

    Thanks Paul.
As you will have noticed, some are just repaints or mast and sail adjustments whilst Chacabuco is a cut and shunt.

Firstly thanks for the Rep Chris.
To answer your question. Yes it will be Spanish now that we have a convincing number of that nations Frigates at last.

    It's a really neat fleet.
I like how it's so many small vessels.
No risk of overusing first rates there.

The Chilean Navy was looking good when I saw them today. I think they would pass their MOT, you can't tell where you've had them chopped up.

What's an Abra saw? Is it like a scroll saw? I assume your coastline is just 2"/5cm insulation foam?

    Exactly Dobbs.
A Scroll saw with an Abra saw blade in it. A bit like a very thin round needle file. Cuts in any direction, or should I say rasps to be precise.

I am following this closely, as I love the way you do your terrain, and want to try my hand at it for an island. I think I have one of those blades for my scroll saw, I just didn't know what they were called!

    Morning Dobbs.
I will be starting on some Islands after this Fort and headland.
Just got to order some more 25mm foam as the one I'm using for the headland Fort is too thick for low lying Islands. I prefer to build them up if they need extra height rather than cut to waste.

Here I thought you used the plasticard as a base for the whole piece of land. What thickness doe you use for the beach?

    Good catch Dobbs.
First the plasticard is 2mm. That is strong enough to reinforce weaker parts of the models but thin enough to fine down at the tide line to look like a natural gradient for the beach.
Four reasons for my only using a small piece of card were one, my supplier does not produce it in a large enough size to do a big model like this in one sheet. Two, I wanted some cliff faces to decend sheer into the sea. Three, economy of cost on plasticard. Four, I felt that a larger section like this would be rigid enough once stiffened by the layers of glue sealing the surfaces.

That glue layer will be today's part of the project. Then it will be the wait for it to dry stage.

Why, Rob, my birthday is coming up too (on the 30th). A Mahonesa and a Hermione are on the way for me.

Hi, I'm new here. So how do you change the name of the ships on the ship base? Is there a go-to printout?

    Hi Matthew.
I'm afraid there is no easy fix for the cards.
    I process mine in photoshop.
The chaps will be able to tell you the exact font which can be purchased, but I find that Bell MT Bold is close enough for me if you just compress it a bit.

Sorry Bill if you look at the posting date it was in March.
Nevertheless, a very happy birthday to you.

The font as I understand it is Bondi Condensed or Bondi Condensed Plus.

The thing to do is copy a base plate of the type of ship you want then blank out the current name and then add the one you want.
I believe there is a couple of blanks already in the files, if not pm me the type you want and Ill check my files for you

I print mine on ordinary printer paper from a colour laser printer.

The font is Bodoni Condensed in Bold I believe. I think it's out there for free or a close relative at least.
I think I use Bodoni but not Bodoni Condensed.

As Chris says Matthew, if you get stuck with any special cards let us know. There is always someone who can mackle up most things.
