    Default Anchorage Blog?

How does one create, what is the purpose for a blog at the Anchorage? I have posted a few things here which I think might fit the bill, but am not sure what the bill is...

On the bottom bar Dobbs, next to IP and the rep star is a box blog this post. Click on it and you will get the option to post to your blog. I simply use mine for things that either I may want easy access to or to point other members to without having to search the files for. Others may use them for different reasons.

If you find out how to do that please let me know Dobbs.
I have only toyed with the Blog myself thus far as no one has shown much interest in using it thus far.

I ran across the video Suzanne made last year of us sailing Grace in a vigorous breeze. You had mentioned at the time that you do not do Facebook where she originally posted it, and now neither do we. If I could figure out how to post it here, you would finally get to see our sail on what is now our second windiest day (this year we had a 35 mile voyage in 25-30 knots of breeze with higher gusts! - no video of that one, we had our hands full).

Just got this reply from The lord High Admiral.
I hope it will be of use to you.

The sites are not configured to host and embed videos. I'm pretty sure he can get a free dropbox account or google storage that he can upload it to. Then he could simply post a link to it in his blog.

    Keith

I would very much like to see your footage.

You could make a youtube account and upload it there.
I've done that and inked it here.

    Example: Tacking a brig.

I had some opportunities to film tacking.
You can see it's a not that wide channel in the archipelago on the way out from Stockholm.
    There were some tacking.

I was astounded on how close you came to the shore before going about.

The handy thing about tacking, as opposed to wearing (or jibing as it's called these days), is that if you're heading toward shore and things don't go well, the wind is blowing from the land.

Nice pictures, Jonas. It is really cool watching the yards swing, just like the diagrams in the books say they should. I thought it particularly interesting how they took in the forecourse before tacking, then let it down once they were through the wind.

We didn't have the mainsail set (the spanker) so we had to balance the vessel by taking in the forecourse.

And thank you for the reputation.

The usefulness of seeing a ship in action rather than just reading about it is of inestimable value Jonas.
Thanks once more for your explanation about the Spanker.
    More Rep inbound.
