    Default Permission to come aboard

    Hello all,
I guess a certain gentleman/officer, last seen at Reading, was the inspiration for my finally making that move to join the navy :) Cheers Chris (or should I say "sir"?).
I haven't even started to be involved in Sails yet, (although I have played many a Napoleonic naval action under different rules) but I'm almost there! My personal "Ares" navy, mostly frigates, is already large enough to have been noted, "sternly" by swmbo, who pointed out that the harbour was hardly large enough to hold my aircraft, let alone a load of ships :) But there you go. I guess its one way to spend more of the kids inheritance eh!
I'm now looking forward to searching the depths here. If it's anything like as detailed as the (dare I say it) Wings site, I'm in for a real treat. So here's to you all and rum rations all round - which of course I shall have to start on myself forthwith.

    Mike

Welcome, and good to have you aboard Mike.
Do drop into the Wardroom for a tot or two and a yarn once you have got shaken down.
    Rob.
The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

    My pleasure Mike.
I hope to keep up with this aspect of the Anchorage now that it is up and e=running again, and I am finally getting notification of new members again.

Thanks guys - finding my way around is fun. Found Herkybirds solo rules thanks to Admiral Bligh and am now steering a carefull course through the shoals of the official rules as well. Very interesting. A Port or two sounds like a great idea, although I'm not sure if that was intended as a clever pun :) The cost of pre-ordered additional vessels for my fleet has yet to be revealed to swmbo, but since they are unlikely to make landfall for some time to come, (so I understand from rumours from the lower decks), I doubt it will cause too many headaches

My one fear is being unable to come to terms with the amount of required painting / repairs, although there appears to be plenty of good guidance and advice aboard already. Here's hoping

I have never known Captain Duff joke about anything as serious as his Port.
