    Default The Tall Ships´ Races

Tre Kronor af Stockholm is in The lead of The Tall Ships´ Races in The Baltic Sea. Both her class and over all. It's only the second leg on the first day, but I have to take the opportunity to brag as I think of her a little as my ship. After all, I've sailed her.

    Thank you Rob.

By the way... Tre Kronor won the Crew Parade prize in Åbo yesterday.

I will keep myself updated on the Tre Kronor at least. I follow "my" vessel in the race.

Even I did not know that there were that many out there Dave.
    Thanks for the heads up.
Next year they come to Hartlepool, although I'm not sure of the date yet.

    Cheers Dave.
I had looked on the site but did not find that bit. Small print is not my forte I'm afraid.

    Thank you, Rob.

We won race 2, both in class and over all, just ahead of Royalist. So UK got second place.

The last race will start Saturday.

I've been away at a Swedish winery but am now back with a delayed report from Tre Kronor.

My translation. I hope it makes sense.

"After a difficult first night and yesterday (2:nd of Aug) with beating in unstable winds, we suffered weak winds and the old head seas (Tre Kronor's bane...) off the coast of Poland last night. However, we were further south than our competitors and with the expected southern winds we were in a better position to gain positions. When the wind increased, we got nice sailing in the morning, and gained on our competitors.
During the morning's radio broadcast we were told that the race would be stopped at 1000UTC. It was short of time until the end and every effort was made to maximize the last hours. We still had some benefit from our positioning and it was now about capitalizing on strategic investment.
At the end of the race, the positions at the top were very even, apart from the Royalist, which probably has a pretty good head start. In Class A we were together with the Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Sørlandet, Fryderyk Chopin and Mir all very close, as known aboard anyway (we had limited internet access, so don't know very much about those not close to us).
For any guess about results, we will wait for official notice. But yellowbrick is no longer reliable.
Greetings from Captain Leo on board."
