HMS Victory. A new perspective.
Mrs Bligh (Speedwell Lass) and I visited HMS Victory on Monday, and thanks to a bit of new Technology ie. her Tablet she managed to get a series of photos below decks where my obsolete Flash Camera was not allowed to be used. She will post the pics when she gets the time later in the week. Meanwhile here is a bit of modern technology in use above decks.
A newly pressed hand named Henry is given the job of cleaning the deck.
Why does he look so happy?

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.
It looks like the galley fire has also been replaced by modern technology.
Looks like they were using that for heating the pitch for sealing the deck.
Please note that Henry is still wearing the traditional black tarred hat.

When visiting HMS Victory I took some photos as we toured around the ship, going right down to the keel!
The other ship is the Warrior.

A lot has happened since last I visited her in the eighties...
It was very interesting to see these photes as I have never seen the Victory fist hand, thanks for this.
