Default Sea Legs cutting out excercise.

Yesterday's action will be posted by Andy shortly.
    Meantime here is an appetizer.
In which Captain Sealegs spots a couple of heavily laden French Sloops slinking, close inshore, along the Brittany coast inside the shoals and sandbanks.

I wonder how many sloops it would take to bring down a 1st rate.

    More than I own.
If I add British to French and throw in Thorn, I only have five.

Neil ran a scenario in last years Solo campaign with a Fire ship. May be worth taking a look there.

If you do some research, you will find that quite a number of sloops were armed with carronades, Rob. Here is one H.M.S. Blossom.

That was the reason that I suggested it Dave.
I nearly made the mistake of giving the French Sloop Carronades in the latest Solo game, and then remembered that the French type were inferior to the Brits.
An interesting snippet of information I came across, gleaned originally from the HMS Victory web site seems to clear up the question of double shotting Carronades.

The first gun of the Victory to fire at Trafalgar was the larboard (port) carronade. It was loaded with a 6.5 lb. (3 kg) powder charge, a 68 1b. (30.6 kg) round shot and a keg of 500 musket balls and went into the stern of the French flagship Bucentaure. This was one of the main advantages of the weapon, its ability to deliver a massive weight of shot compared to a cannon of the same weight and barrel length.

For a very interesting discussion on Carronades see here:-
