    Talking First Crossing of Equator

After more than 4 years of sailing (OK, I was more on land than on sea) I crossed the Equator for the first time and reached 100 posts milestone. Let me invite you for a glass of rum onboard. Cheers!

The promotion was a little weird - I earned my midshipman star after 85, not 100 sailing days. I wonder why...

The early promotion may be because you were one of the Founding Members, Daniel. I have noticed the same phenomenon with Bligh.

    That is totally correct Dave.
Founding members qualify a little earlier for promotions.

It rather like German pilots in WW1, Originally it only (ONLY?!) took 8 victories to win the Pour le Merite (Blue Max), later pilots like Richthofen had to get 16 or more!
    Life sucks, doesn't it! (LOL!)

It's the golden life of good connections while us without have to earn our promotions by hard work and a good understanding of naval principles!

Surely you must have heard of purchasing a Commission gentlemen? I actually only discovered this fact when I saw Dave Manly make Captain about 100 posts after mine.

It's a question of respect among officers. You'll get women anyway.

in the tried and trusted method used by the Royal Navy. If you are looking for an early commission, have you tried having more money?

    Well said Commander.
Now less chatter and back to work you Midshipmen.

Let's see how much respect that gets me amongst the crew.

    Mutiny! What mutiny?
