Nice clip, made with fragments of some older historical films very famous in my country. You see there mostly Husaria (winged cavalry), in front of which our enemies from those years trembled. At the end you can see the medieval Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg 1410).

The main weapon of Husaria was a long spear and sword called "koncerz", in the Polish army they fought for about 150 years until the early XVIII century.
And how the British are proud of their Royal Navy, and the US with the Marines, so Husaria is our pride.

The Polish Husars was on the decline in the Swedish Polish war. Before improvements to cannon and muskets they were nearly unbeatable.

The charges of the Winged Hussars look spectacular in the film clips but it must have been terrifying to be on the receiving end of one.

I've stood in front of a charging squadron of light cavalry. The earth shook and it was very impressive.

I was very glad there was a tree and a boulder to take cover behind. They were supposed to pass to one side but had to split with a few horses on the other side too.

It was hussars of the Smålands husarregemente that trained for a show where they had gathered a squadron in the uniform of 1898. Skvadron 2000 the event was called.

You have to have nerves to stand even if you have a pike which virtually makes you safe from cavalry if you just put it right on the horse. Put it wrong and you kill the horse and get half a ton of dead horse crushing you. If you flee, you're dead. If your friends beside you flee, you're dead.

Bah -- stopping a cav charge just requires some wooden pegs, rope, and tall grass.... >;)
