    Default Racing Sails?

How about a 1/1000" scale America's Cup race? Anyone delved into a racing realm? I found these guys whilst cleaning up some old hard drive archives . . .

    Could be a fun run . . . : )

There's a great old game from the '60's called Regatta that might be great for those with modifications. I have tweaked the rules to make it more playable from the original rules, and am in fact, off to our local yacht club later today hoping to drum up players.

I sold my copy of the older metal ships version of the game about a year ago. About the same time I unloaded a bunch of other 3M Bookshelf Games. I remember trying to get my brother to play it many times, but he was into cars not boats.

Yes, use ideas from Regatta to tweak the SoG rules and have sloop or frigate races.

A different approach to the subject, looks interesting
Big boats take the glory, little boats make the sailor

Make sure you get the 3M version with the metal ships and marks. It's much cooler!

We've run a frigate race game here several times, a course of four buoys or islands, players start at their "home" island and race around the course, first one t pass all four islands and get home is the winner. Its a fun way to learn the manoeuvre rules, especially navigating around islands efficiently without hitting them.

Oh, and of course you can shoot up the other competitors too

This sounds very cool, I am on Ebay now looking to score a Regatta game, and pulling graphics for the Oracle's competition that year, should be a blast - without cannons!

You can also order from these guys. The copy they have for sale right now is probably the one I sold them last year? Very reputable and just 30 or so miles away for me.
