Default AAR: March 2016 Solo Scenario - Après la tempête

Starting position: The French blockade force, Genereux, Montagne, Courageuse, is coming from the East, the damaged British fleet, consisting of HMS Victory, HMS Defence, HMS Royal George and HMS Meleager, is approaching from the West. HMS Royal George and HMS Defence are heading for the channel, HMS Victory and HMS Meleager are engaging the French squadron.

    Turn 1+2:

While the French fleet keeps her line-of-battle, the British forces are splitting up.

    Turn 3:

Genereux opens with a raking broadside against HMS Victory, unfortunately almost half her guns miss. Also: After this action Genereux uses her ability (DC) to turn one of her corners the width of a ruler to starboard to avoid getting under fire by the fort in the next turn.

    Turn 4:

Being almost too close to the fort, the French line opens up, Genereux shows her other broadside towards HMS Victory, which replies with a rather weak broadside on close range. HMS Defence enters the channel.

    Turn 5:

HMS Victory recieves more fire from the Montagne (and only now I notice the HMS Meleager could have had a perfect raking shot on Genereux! Sorry!)

    Turn 6:

While circling around, the Montagne and HMS Meleager ram each other. The British frigate exchanges musketry with the threedecker and gets some from Genereux. Now Genereux gets a broadside from HMS Meleager, Montagne is under fire by both HMS Victory and HMS Defence.

    Turn 7:

The pinned Montagne manages to exchange musketry with HMS Meleager, board her and make her surrender while raking HMS Victory with a devastating broadside. The heavily damaged British Threedecker strikes her coulours, too, Montagne is the hero of the day!
Genereux recieves some nasty damage from the rearmost starboard guns of HMS Royal George.
HMS Defence enters the harbour without having taken any additional damage from the action.

    Turn 8:

HMS Defence is out of range for the Frenchmen, mooring right under the fort. Genereux throws a furious broadside after the fleeing HMS Royal George.

    Turn 9:

HMS Royal George joins the twodecker in the safety of the harbour. The well armed fort and the prospect of being set aflame by heated shots from the heavy cannons up on the high walls prevent the French squadron from following them any further.

    Butcher's Bill:

The French have no losses in ships, Montagne is lightly damaged and lost almost half her men in the boarding action and to musketry. Genereux took some serious hits and lost over half of her crew.
The British lost the heavily damaged HMS Victory and the only slightly damaged HMS Meleager to the French. HMS Royal George and HMS Defence made it to the safe harbour, almost without taking any damage.

It is nice to see that it can be done in style, by both sides Richard.
The channel is passable if you get your angles right.
You should make some crew losses up from the Prize money, and maybe some disaffected crewmen from the RN ships.
Neil will work that out for you.
    Well sailed.
    Bligh.

Nice job! I wonder if anyone will manage to stop all of the opponents ships from reaching the harbor.

Nice battle in front of the french port. And the Montagne gets a lot of prize money with the boarding of the HMS Meleager!
    Well done!
