It's far from finished. I have only started with the grey and will continue work in this thread.
It's as that by Rob, but I didn't put up a picture of it all black as it showed nothing.

    Nice to watch the progress.

You put the fort on a cliff, so it's nearly untouchable for ship cannons now.

Yes, this fort is so big and impressive that I wanted it to be viewed as impregnable. One of the "we can't elevate the guns enough, sir" forts that is not there to be attacked but to be avoided.

I have other forts to be used as targets.

Jolly good it looks too Jonas.
That is the beauty of Julián's work. It can be displayed in so many different ways.
We will all have our own unique settings.

I'd love to see a game of storm the fort! I wonder how many ships you'd need to stop that behemoth

On that cliff top it would be like trying to storm Gibraltar.
Just think of the 48 lbr heated shot coming your way with plunging fire.

I would like to add guns but there's very many possible guns (over 50) and if I place a few it will look as if there's a lot of guns missing in the fort.

A few missing is ok but I would still like about 30 guns to make it look at least close to fully armed.

I'm thinking of making them myself.

    Thank you all.

The fort itself is so well made it was easy to get good looking.

    Some thoughts:
By making it more grey than I would say could be very correct in the terrain makes it stand out more.
I wanted it to sit well into the terrain to look very much like part of the terrain, but it makes it less versatile.
The piece is surprisingly heavy. The fort itself is a little heavy but Masonite and filler makes the piece quite heavy.

Jonas, it does not matter that the parts do not slide together as you wish. it is so aesthetically well made that one easy to abstract from it. I wonder og there something else than filler to use? How heavy is the fort from Julian?

I'm going to have to get one of these and have a go, looks so much better than the landscape and fort cut outs. Great work.

Must get my flags shrunk down to size.
I think I will do one for French, English, Spanish and Pirates.
If the Pirates hold the Fort it will have reduced cannon.

For the flag of Spain please use the cross of St. Andrew!

Is that the flag used by the Artillery, or the National Royal flag?

    Rob.
Spain flag used in 1800 on land (army, forts...) was the Cross of Burgundy.
Marine flag was red and yellow. We currently use the red and yellow. The cross of burgundy is reserved only for military flags army.

I think the same, the fort is very heavy. I told him the guy who makes the clones and indicated whether it was possible to lighten the weight but he said that for now it is not possible to lighten the weight. I would have suggested that mixing the resin with a lightening element (crushed cork) but he has not told me anything about it.

I mostly just reflected over it. I don't necessarily find the weight a problem.

    I quite like the weight.
It helps keep the terrain from slipping during play.
It is nothing compared to the weight of all that lead on the town board.

My smaller town with smaller houses definitely weigh less. I'm thinking of building a more Mediterranean harbour which would be more like yours, so I might be confronted by that then. But next up is probably an North African harbour to be back drop for the battles of Algeciras or the Nile.

Trekroner fort, named after the captured Swedish flagship Tre Kroner sunk there to build the first version of the fort protecting Copenhagen.

The Langton model is impressive. When painting the guns I found they have modeled wheels.
