Default The first naval battle ...

    Well mates
On wedensday 9 march about 19:00, i'm playing my first stroke, since I got the game on January 21. It is very possible that I am 43 years old, but my whole body bubbles inside as a 6 year old on Christmas Eve...AT LAST.

We will play a Scenario from the rulebook and play with 3 ships each.

I just have to let it out

I understand U perfectly. I have similar feelings playing this game.
Who will be your opponent, if I may ask.

Thank you for the understanding My opponent is another Danish gamer from a local Forum for all sorts of gamers. They are some kind of a group call them self "2MD" (to many dragons) and they play every Wednesday on a school about 200 meters from the church i work in. Small world
I think itīs an effective way to get in contact with other "sailors"

Unfortunately I am forced to play solo
My friends play x-wing mostly and LCG card games, and it's hard to convince them to SoG.

I am rather the opposite, I get the occasional game of Sails, and cannot get anyone to do X-Wing!

Ay bring on some coordinates Lieutenant...

Thereīs soon a big Tournament in X-Wings in The National Museum, Copenhagen and 19 - 20 march there is DFFCON-16 same destination with war games (historical etc.) and naval battles, but not Sailīs of Glory...YET. When i get the hang of it and get my own "Danish Fleet" in here i would like to represent SoG on the DFFCON-17. Meanwhile the "dark side" will master the Danish country and apparently also the Polish. HANG ON KAMIL, as long there is a Ocean and wind, there will be sailīs of glory...

I like X-wing, playing this game is wery enjoyable. But now, in my case, SoG is the apple of sb’s eye (correct proverb?).

    Ohøj Mates
Wauw...it was interesting. Peter (member of "2manydragons") and i played about 4 hours with out finish the game. I ended up with all my 3 British ships and Peter with only 2.
Peter : Généreux, Courageuse and another class 5 wich i can not remember the name off.
Morten: HMS Defense, HMS Terpsichore and HMS Cleopatra.

In the heat of the battle i completely forgot to take pictures. I only took five pic. in the start (iīll get routine).

As always i placed my ships to close to each other and in a few maneuvers i did some damage to my self...AGAIN. Peter did to In somehow Peter manage to give me two broadsides, but his untrained crew missed a lot (8 damage counters 6 of them was 0). Then the battle begins to develop.
Peter got som trouble with his two class 5 and could not catch up with his Flagship. I surrounded Généreux and she surrender.

Then a lot of fail maneuvers from both of us and some good discussions about the game. We did fire at each other now and then and i remember my crew on all three ships was busy pump water and repair damage.

Next time (and there will be a lot of times) we only play with two ships, until we get more experienced. Then we need bigger tables...

I am telling you my dear shipmates. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TIRED IN MY LIFE BEFORE ...and this morning i feel like hangovers

    Result:
    give me some more

    Good to U, Morten.
What was the final list of casualties / sunk ships, only Généreux left the flag?

Thanks Morten! - I think running a single ship on the advanced rules is sufficiently tiring!

    4 hours for one game?

    Nor bad.

Ok, an intro game with advanced rules need it's time. I wonder why only 1 ship get lost.

well, Kamil, i really canīt tell. When we passed 23:15 we were last people in the hall, we were both exhausted. We looked at each other and shook hands with a smile on our lips
I think Peter was under half damage on his last two ships and got one sunk (Généreux). I Had a lot of minor (hmmm...that did not sound right?) damage on my three ships. Over half damage on HMS Defense and less on the two others.
We did have a lot of fun an laughing

I have found less..experienced...players often get badly out of position and therefore fail to get into good firing positions very often!

Yes it was a tough one...Peter had only played twice before and not with advanced rules so there was a lot of explanations and small talk. Only one ship got lost because we were so bad maneuvering and sometimes we loaded the wrong side of the ships
