    Rob,
Very nice. Did you make the shore-line/harbour to fit in the box. Or where you just lucky to get a box that it all fitted in? I got one and thought it would work, but one little bit of the steel-plate made it not fit. Jane my partner made a bag for my harbour and I cut a small hole in the side of the box. It pokes out about 1 inch and I must slide it into the little hole before laying it flat. As it is only a small bit of steel it still works. If only I had measured it first! I did not need that bit on the harbour plate.
    Yours looks so good Rob.

I will put it this way Rory.
I have a spare box which is about 50mm too small going spare!
I actually made the shore line 45mm longer than I should have for the original box I bought. I was thinking more about the FIC trays size than the coastline.

I was lucky to have some of Keith's off cuts from his Hanger trays Kamil, which are more substantial for the support pillars. So I just stripped off the plastic protector film and stuck them down.
    It worked just fine.
As you can see I even have space over the Fort for another layer of Islands.

    Rob,
How you did it is not the point. It works and looks good. To go to a game and open that box will be like kids at Christmas for the other players.

That is very kind of you Vol, but remember a lot of this is knowledge gleaned from other gamers over 40 years. Not least by some very talented shipmates here on the anchorage.

Here is a bit of infill coastline to extend the possible variations of my harbour bays, before I start on my Mont St. Michelle inspired Island.

I hope to be able to find the right sort of houses etc.
It wont be quite the same as it will have to pass for Spanish Island citadel also, nor will it have a causway, but I will use it as the basis for my design.

    Nice Models Julian,
Its the scales? The first one does not say. I think the 2nd one is 1-610 Am I right????
    Rob,
I think that the rows of Langton house's would work for the town. As for Mount Saint Michel it's self You may have to build it yourself. It would be great looking model.
I have said before, We are playing Naval games. Land and islands are frames to some games we play not the centre point, like land games. We can get sucked into spending lots of money and time on them. Mostly they get in the way (Good thing) of the game. I'm only saying think about it first! A bought large fort and some house's on an island would work just as well and look just as good on the table doing the same job as a model of Mount Saint Michel. No one has make a exact copy of any town, port or island that I know off.

    Hi Guy's,
look I'm on your side. Love Ticonderoga in 25 mm scale. It's a thing of beauty. But it is what the battle/game is all about, not as I said above a fame to a game. Jonas, You have seen my harbour! All I can say is good luck and can you post it (This thread is marked so if you start a new one let me know). I'm only playing "The adult head" I would hate it too be used once and then put away and only get dusty.

If it had not been for your chaps inspiration, I would probably still have been using the card coastline and batteries from Ares. As it is I have now been able to pass those on to Captain Sealegs.
It was Chris started the ball rolling with that Volcanic Island, not placed in the middle of the table please note!
Then Julian coming up with the Forts etc, made the coastline possible. Add all the other bits and pieces that you have all sourced or suggested, and Lo! here I stand on the shoulders of other men.

Actually I already have a plan for capturing the town, but await Ares supplying some troop transports.
Like a good designer, when I built my coastline I included one weak link to be exploited by a discerning Admiral or Captain. As my fencing master said. "When training a fencer always teach him all your moves but one."

For transport and merchantmen, I intend to use old 1/1200 metal ships. I think I got a supplier for bases which I hope to pick up at Partizan, just a matter of a manouvre deck.

Rob this is simply stunning work. May I ask where you got the landing parties that crop up in your photos from time to time. I've realised that I need some in my life? For purely mercantile operations you understand...

That was what put me off a bit Hugh, but there are some examples of Langton buildings in the pictures Julián has posted which give a good impression.

    Hi All,
If you go onto Rob Langton's site- 1-1200 Napoleonic ships. Click on 1-1200 scale buildings. Go to the bottom of the page, you will find a number of pages called "Diagrams" Metal, Resin 1 & 2 and shoreline etc. They will show you drawings of all the pieces. Not photo's but good drawings which will give you the idea of each piece.
Hope this helps. My harbour and town used most of them.
