Hammerhead over, had a good time, managed to get 4 games in during the day, three with punters and one between ourselves, this being a Pirate pair against two 74s, not fair
I hear, dont know what you mean, they are pirates.
In fact it was a three way, two pirate frigates v English 74 and a French 74
Will post pics later but didnt get chance to take many being too busy assisting the punters and acting as GM.

Setting up, we were near the entrance so most people saw tis first as they entered the doors

The French fleet ready for action Commerce de Bordeaux, Redoutable, Temeraire & Timoleon

The British fleet HMS Bellona, HMS Impetueux , HMS Spartiate & HMS Bellerophon

Also some nicely done guests from Pirates of the Carribean

First game was a pairing of Father and Daughter against myself (Capn Duff) and Reg (Dr.Maturin) unfortunately no pics here as I was busy explaining, GM and then blowing said daughter out of the water, this ended up a Fench victory as the father then proceeded to ram the coastline as was easily finished off by two French 74.

Game 2 was using the pirates brought along by Simon (Maverick on the Aerodrome, he will be along here soon )

Here we started with two pirate Frigates against a Brit 74 HMS Spartiate and the French 74 Commerse de Bordeaux, we only had a few moves before some public members asked for a game, but enough time for Black pearl to bow Rake my HMS Spartiate doing considerable damage, they dont arf move fast bos'n

I did mange to stern rake the Pearl in the next move but the damage was not nearly enough after the damage taken

Game three this time three British 74 against three French 74, the highlight here was one Brit 74 Captained by an inexperienced player moved off to sample the delights of the port while the two others went stright for the French.
The first fire was deadly both the British and the French being double shotted, a tactic most in the UK seem to be adopting. The British HMS Bellona caused 50% damage to the Redoubable but was so heavily damaged by the return fire she had to strike her colours.
This left one Brit 74 virtually surrounded by three French ships and was also made to strike after taking three full broadsides.

The last Brit ship after sampling the nightspots of the port moved into take on the three French, the out come was not in doubt but a devastating broadside did take out one French ship, the Temeraire and heavily damaged Commerce de Bordeaux. The pics show the end of the action

The last game pitted a Father and son who had never played before against each other assisted by Myself and Jez ( Ringbolt on the aerodrome, again I anticipate him joining us here)

Both pairs of 74 moved towards each other, two British ships getting too close to the French

Three ships entangled and boarding actions ensued, the decks were awash with bodies but the French Marines and sailors won the day, the British weere finished off by a stern rake

After taking out the British ship the French close in on the remaining one

In the end after being entangled for a couple of turn both ships seperated and a last broadside took out the British

So three French victories today, the RN were smitten low, perhaps revenge next Sunday at WMMS

A good day but again as last year, only had 6 members of the public join in for a game, lots of comments about the models, the rigging, which pleased me I must admit, as well as the game and game mechanics, but even with the Pirate ships and big banner we could not attract many gamers :(

    Well done, Chris.

    How many people attend Hammerhead?

I definitely need to get some 3-D terrain.

Not got the attendance figures as yet, but there were apparently 50 different participation games there, unfortnately we could not discover anyone selling any sails, I was after a Montange 3decker but searches proved fruitless.
I will post the numbers one received

    Thanks for your report Chris.
I can see it clearly now I have the telescope up to the other eye.
much clearer than on the day.
However, it is now time for my next medication, so I will be off line again for an hour or so whilst it works its magic.

Just received the following ref Hammerhead

    Hi Chris

A very big thanks to you and your team for presenting ‘Sails of Glory’ at Hammerhead 2016. The time, effort and thought that had obviously gone into presenting the games this year was clear to all in attendance. Although three games received awards every game deserved praise and recognition. The standard was so high, both in terms of visual appeal and playability that the Forest Outlaws judges had a very difficult task on their hands in choosing just three games out of the 53 present! The participation games are the most important feature of Hammerhead, and it was wonderful to see so many gamers having the opportunity to experience such a fantastic variety of different games in one day!

Many thanks again for supporting Hammerhead 2016. We have already received lots of very positive feedback from visitors, traders and those presenting the games. We will be publishing a show report shortly.

The date for Hammerhead 2017 is Saturday 4th March, I will start making preparations over the next few weeks!

Any feedback and suggestions would be most welcome and very helpful.
    Many thanks
    Kind regards

    Sally
    (Hammerhead Show organiser)

Great to see the game and have a chat :D
"And we'll rant and we'll roar, like true British sailors
We'll rant and we'll roar, all on the salt sea
Until we strike sounding in the channel of old England:
From Ushant to Scilly, 'tis thirty-five leagues."
