Guess this will have to do, as Frobisher seems not to figure in the Ales of the period.

If we are searching for the North-West passage then we must remember Sir Henry Hudson.

Then we must not forget Sir Robert John Le Mesurier McClure, who first found the Northwest passage in 1850.

Sadly, I do not think that this Brewery has any connection with the explorer apart from the name.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Beers had this entry. It was never actually bottled, and you couldn't even buy a growler of it. The ABV tells why:

    Billy Budd

    ABV: 14.0
    IBU: 100
    Availability: Limited, Draft Only
    Original Release Date: 04/2010
This brew-pub exclusive is a strong brown ale brewed with brown sugar, and dark roasty grain. We created it by combining our Indian Brown Ale, Palo Santo Marron, and an experimental batch of 120 Minute IPA brewed at the Rehoboth Beach brewpub by brewer Bryan Selders.

The name comes from a Melville story of the same name about a big strong sailor in the British Navy. This three thread ale has a deep brown color, with firm bitterness balanced by complex malt sweetness and roasted notes. Great with BBQ, dessert, or your favorite novel.

    Serving size: Snifter

This beer should go on tap late the week of 4/26/10 and will be around as long as it lasts.

Due to limited availability of Billy Budd, growlers of this Brewpub Exclusive beers are not available.

like your Aviator Ale. I wondered if it should not be Aviatrix Ale in today's world?

On the Yorkshire coast there is a headland called Flamborough Head, off which on 23rd September 1779 John Paul Jones in the Bonhomme Richard fought his famous battle against H.M.S.Serapis.

Oh how I miss good stouts ales and bitters. America seems to prefer larger over anything. I'd do anything for a bottle of black sheep.

Bet that has a good head on it!
Meanwhile I'm doing a review of the Fleet in the South of England.
    Just off Spithead.

North of Scarborough there is Robin Hood's Bay, so called because there is a local legend about Robin Hood fighting against a French pirate crew, which was raiding the village.
