Good to find this safe haven after coasting listlessly in the Sargasso sea! I'm a fan of Age of Sail games for many years but only recently gotten into Sails of Glory after parachuting from Wings of Glory WW2 (a game that part of my soul still remains playing). I'm waiting for my starter set and Victory (as well as some first rates from all nations from the Anchorage store.
Some years ago I ran a refight of the Battle of Trafalgar at a local club. Pics can be seen here - https://picasaweb.google.com/1089555...eat=directlink we used the WhizzKids Pirate ships and the A and A Games Grand Fleet Actions In the Age of Sail. It played really well and I could see why the French and Spanish were sitting ducks.
I live in Rochester - just a stones throw away from Chatham Royal Dockyard where the HMS Victory was built - just off the Medway where the Dutch humilated the British by burning British fleets and stealing ships - once under Elizabeth I and then in the reign of Charles II (1667) (http://www.historyofwar.org/articles...dway_1667.html) just after the Great Fire of London (1666) and the Great Plague (1665). A tough 3 years for Britain.
