    Default Posters and suchlike.

Now that we are presenting more demo games of Sails at shows and Conventions I was wondering if one of our more able cartographers could draw up some advertising posters, business cards, and banners similar to those sported by our cousins on the Drome. I think it is high time we raised our profile gentlemen. We are not going to remain the poor relatives of Ares forever.

Polo shirts like we have for the Aerodrome but bearing a different logo and perhaps in navy blue?

I'll speak with the Boss and see if she has time.

Edit - just sent her an email with this thread so she will see it in the morning.

I'd be happy to create some designs. I had created the attached for Eric that he used at Origins. It's just a quick attempt to have something to pass out. Feel free to critique this (I welcome any feedback). We may want to start discussion on what type of "look and feel" we want, that way the business card and banner will be consistent.

Here are some questions to get thoughts started.
What colors do we want to see?
What colors do we not want?
What type of designs do we want (this will help narrow the "look and feel")? For example: vintage, modern, contemporary, professional, home-spun, comical, fun, serious, etc.
What textual content do we want to show?
What pictorial content to we want to show?
What size and orientation for business card (standard is 2"x3.5")?
What size and orientation for banner?

    Thanks very much Susan.
I know that Neil had most to do with banner for the British Squadrons for the Drome. As I am just an also ran on the Anchorage, I think that he and Chris, who have both done most to promote Sails at shows over here in the U.K. should have the say on this one.
    I was just the catalyst.

It has to do with whether folks are Cubs fans.

I thought I asked Keith about this when he returned. Either my memory is incorrect or he has been busy; either way, I will contact him again. I have noticed this as well as I don't receive popup messages when I am on and I receive a PM. Often, PMs come in and I don't know it.

I like that a lot Neil.
Just would like to see the Ship a little smaller to leave room for a Main title at the Top Sails of Glory Anchorage in an arc just below the Nelson's.

Next question is, can we clip them over the existing banner.
Would save a fortune if we don't have to buy a complete setup.

Susan's design makes for a very nice business card in Microsoft Publisher. I just copied and pasted her image into that program. It's difficult to see the 'card' background as I went with parchment as the card color and it's a close match to our forum background color.

If you like! I would say black on a cream base would look best. I still cannot subscribe to any old or new threads??????????? This is putting me off looking on this site. I cannot get into a rhythm with threads that hold interest to me. I am looking at the what's new, but have no interest in this slowly. As I get no subscribed threads any more.

Those reproductions of old posters look good but is there a possibility that their intention may be lost amidst the historic detail?

It's called "targeted marketing", aimed at people who are intelligent enough to "get it". I'll see if I can come up with something dumbed down enough to appeal to Republicans and Tories alike! (It's a JOKE, people)

Neil, sorry for the confusion. I've added a print version of the business card in my album: the actual artwork is 3.75 inches x 2.25 inches; there is an additional 0.125 inch all around (which I call bleed, may be called something else in England), so when trimmed it ensures no white shows. If you need a different size, just let me know.

    Hey Rory
I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm spending much less time on the Anchorage since I don't get emails on subscribed threads any more, so I never know when threads are answered. I mentioned this to Erik and Keith but still no emails.

Hey, Hey, I resemble that remark!!!

It's great to be a Cubs Fan, it teaches one extreme humility, at least 6 months out of the year, and instills great hope for the other 6 months!!
