Default Gen Con Sails of Glory Record Breaking Battle--2015

Check out the Sails of Glory Facebook page for more information. We broke last years record with over 70 players! I did not get a chance to take photos, but I did sink a British ship.

We also had a better turn out than the earlier Wings record breaking attempt.

I do have Wings and have always been a flying buff (I don't know if I dare to say I'm old air force here) but I like Sails more as a game. I find it interesting that Sails have more likes on facebook and beat the Wings record of participants.

    Well done all!

Were these all seasoned players, or were many of them ab initios? I'm often curious how these "largest ever" games are organised

I saw that "likes" difference and found it quite surprising too. Not because wings is a better game, but because its been around longer.

Yes. And I think it has quite a few more players too.

I have a friend (who I met when I ran the game at Ancient City Con and who is now a forum member as well) who was at Gen Con and didn't find out about this game until it was too late. Poor bastard.

Clearly they were not all seasoned players. However, I got the impression that there were more who seemed familiar with the game than those who were not. Many were returnees from last years record breaker and quite a few were also Wings players.

Rules were taught and they were more detailed and comprehensive than those from last year.

The Wings event was at 10 am in the morning, which is also when the dealer hall opens for Day Two. Many attendees will not give up their chance to pick up new games that are usually released at Gen Con when that Hall opens up. A 10 am start time may not be the best time slot to choose.

By comparison the NOVAG Group ran a Wings event I attended at 9 am on Saturday morning and I'm thinking it had a greater number of players than the Ares Record Breaking attempt?
