    Default Grog

We do a lot of toasting here at the Anchorage. Here is an article on grog, that rum based mixture served to British sailors and rye whiskey based mixture later served to U.S. sailors:

    Cheers!

Readers of Arthur Ransome's "Swallows and Amazons" books for children may recall that the young 'pirates' who sailed the Lake District, Hamford Water and (occasionally) further afield were dosed up on grog on a regular basis (although in their case it was ginger beer :) )

My last tot was in 1966, wish I had one now. Saving or selling your tot if you were a tea totler was not uncommon.

Being a member of the Royal Naval Old Comrades Association, my father could obtain the real Macoy until his death in1988. Since then this has been a dry ship as far as Grog is concerned.
    Bligh..
