I'm now 52 almost and I have always loved the romance of age of sail wargaming. I don't get to do it with few around who are interested... as in one... me...
I hail from Livermore California. But I'm on a tear right now with the luxury of internet access (dont have that at home either) eating up as much information as I can... currently trying to learn about the Russian Green fleet (interesting colour to paint a ship)... and how many real "Class" ships are out there... I have yet to play SoG, but hopefully will be able to score a copy of it soon...

Greetings Christian. Welcome aboard the Anchorage.

Don't be surprised if you see some comments from other board members popping up concerning the color "Green" and the fleets of Russia.

Just out of curiosity, why is the Russian taste for green such a fascination here?

It's an ongoing discussion/debate as to the authenticity of green vs. black or black vs. green on Russian ships. I've steered clear.

    Welcome!

I think the Russians had a bad black paint that turned green. Almost all black is tinted in a color and will pale towards that color. That would make them very dark green. That's my theory at least.
