That's a nice look with the pinstripes!

(I wonder if ares' painting technology could do that...)

I really liked it and it's historically accurate so I tried to do it.

I'd think that it could be printed. I also think Magicienne would be a good repaint.

    Nice one Jonas,
Why not try a metal one. You can make Ares look so good. I would love to see you make/paint one.

I've tried GHQ years ago. It didn't turn out well. The masts broke from bending.

I don't know, but since then I've had a age of sails miniature block that I finally can bypass.

It started out with just touch up of the sails and perhaps that "not much to do and all is done"-attitude made it possible.

It was Vol's project when he remade an SGN106 that made me cut into the miniatures for my razées.

With the Tonnant mod and the wrecks I get a base left over. Who knows, perhaps I could buy a Langton merchant and put on it.

    Nice one without flag.

Wonder why there's a burning French 1st rate in the background.

(...think this frigate is posing for a picture after the ships of the line had done the work)

It's after San Domingo 1806. The french ran them aground during the battle to deny them as prices and then evacuated. After that the British frigates set them on fire.

Don't treat this as anything official, but we on the Research Team and Ares have discussed using the very large Magicienne class as an expansion of the Concorde reprint pool. Most of the visible difference, if memory serves, is in a sharper rake of Magicienne's stern.

    Missed opportunity for modding...

But yes, Concorde was the obvious choice to use for it.

Damn, I forgot about this battle...

Looks like a nice sceario for my limited fleet.

Thank you Steven, Darell and Paul.

Sven, you'll need a French first rate and four SGN102 for the French and two/three SGN104 and five/four SGN102 for the British.

I'll use my HMS Atlas razée and my HMS Agamemnon modified and shortened HMS Defence.

For frigates I'll use one each of SGN105, SGN101 and SGN107 for the British and two SGN105 and probably a SGN107 for the French. That will leave out HMS Epervier, a brig.

I'm not going to use any special abilities and then let player play the British. I don't think there'll be enough players to play all ships of the line, but if there's more than seven I'll probably start with Imperial.

It's not a question of who wins, but who captures most prices...

Imperial would be my choice, too.

And work have just started on the frigates, but as they didn't take any active part in the battle they're optional.

The terrain part with the town is more important to get finished, but I hope I will get it all finished in time.

    I agree.
That certainly is a fine line up of vessels for both sides.
I can see my Squadron is a none starter in this race.

Thank you. I try to make it look good for the games on the convention.

It's not as high standard of terrain (when finished) when playing at home or that correct ships.

I like the idea of the Official painting thread Jonas. I was only thinking the other day that we don't have any official threads for our ships like the ones on the Drome to display our repaints which have been personalized or are builds by another firm, so I will instigate a new sub forum for this now that you have put me to shame by jogging my memory about this idea. Many thanks for your input once again.

    I really like that idea.

It'll just need some good sources as many of my repaints are just inspired by paintings and scetches that may be much later and I don't always know how good they are as sources.

Really it is the inspiration to others rather than an exact model or the paintwork.
After all the experts are still arguing about which paint job the Victory had at Trafalgar, and we have her in front of us as an example and one of the most written about sea battles of the Napoleonic era.
I have now opened the sub forum and will add a ship shortly just to lead people to the spot. if I find anything I deem unsuitable I will just move it to a more appropriate thread.
