Default Ramage (volume 1) free on Kindle at the moment

The first volume of Dudley Pope's Ramage series is free on Kindle at the moment: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040ZNFMQ/

I have no idea how long it will stay free.

I think the free offer on the book must have ended. The Kindle app. is still free.

I'm still seeing it at a price of $0.00. The rest of the series is $7.99 per volume.

Having started here, I have just completed the final novel this week. Thanks for a great suggestion Susan.
    Where do I go next?

I read all of the series at a very impressionable age (i.e. when I was really getting in to AoS gaming about 30 years ago). Having been brought up reading Hornblower and Bolitho it was a natural progression :)

I had also seen your remark on an earlier post about Ramage Dave. it also influenced me to start reading them.
When Susan pointed out the freebie, that swung it.
Do you think it is worth going and having a go at Bolitho again?
I tried Jack Aubery, and found it far too slow going for me, with all the side information about the voyages etc.

I only got into O'Brien's "Jack Aubrey" series relatively recently. Liz read the lot many, many years ago but I always stalled reading M&C. I guess advancing years meant I was better able to "get" the style and language in the last 5 years or so. Now 'm lapping them up, its rekindled my love of fighting frigate actions and unusual mini campaigns

Maybe I'll give them another crack of the whip myself then Dave.
