    Default Spiel 2014 in Essen

I just came back from the gamefair in Essen and of course I visited the Ares stand.
It was poor.....and sad. So it make no sense to put a foto here.
In the left down side of a glasstower I found six ships and a starterbox.
The rest was Wings of Glory, Dino Race and Age of Conan.
And boxes over boxes to sale from Galaxy Defenders. And this game was played on the tables.
But for Admirals of the Fleet I found this: www.Strategema-Games.com
Winter is comming, and if snow falls and you can not come out of your house, play one of the three games..
    Greetings
    Uli

Downloading the rules - a bit slow given the file size. Will look at them this evening. Is there any deal on the game at Essen?

The ships displayed are HMS Victory and USS Constitution. Closer view here, for those of you on Facebook:

It looks like the game is regulary demoed by red-shirt staff members. As in the picture above and in the one at this link.

It is nice to see that beautiful US frigate. I can't wait to have both of these ships on the table.

Didn't anybody learn the lessons of Star Trek? I wouldn't mind a job with Ares, but I will NEVER wear a red shirt for ANYONE, for ANY REASON...

A myth! I recall reading something on the interwebs where a chap had analysed the death rates in Star Trek and worked out that yellow shirts had a higher mortality rate. Best shirt to wear for longevity in the ST:OS universe was blue.

A relative of mine was the standard bearer for Garibaldi at the Calatafimi battle. He did not survive, alas. Anyway the very largest part of the one thousand red shirts (actually 1088 men and at least one disguised woman) that took Sicily and the Kingdom of Naples from Bourbons to unite them to forming Italy were still alive at the end of the campaign.

the existing series 2 in a new packaging, so the masts can not be damaged they told me.
And they think that the 2 big ones will come at the end of the next month.
It would be a great christmas gift..

They will also feature captains cards for two officials each (Nelson included) and for their skills. The USS ship has also a couple of crew skills too.

The red shirt style, depicted below, was worn by many members of the Garibaldi Guard (39th New York State Volunteers) during the ACW:

I wouldn't say that to one of them (tho' given the conditions they living under, they would interpret the joke differently) -- just you. ;)
