Default Spanish Tresure Galleon vs. Royal Navy (by Hobbes)

I took a slightly different approach to my AAR. I hope you like it.

The following documents are excerts of communcations between various officers of the Royal Navy regarding an encounter between HMS Juno, HMS Terpsichore against Buque de Plata.

The initial order to Commodore Sebastian Hobbes

After reaching the designated area, Commodore Hobbes opened the detailed orders (basically a narrative of the scenario, you don't have to read it).

For some reason, I cannot delete the first version of the orders from this post, please forgive me.

On November 5th, HMS Juno under Command of Captain Jonas Rose encountered the Buque de Plata. Luckily HMS Terpsichore was present on the scene.

This is the report of Commodore Hobbes to his superior Admiral Collingwood.

Some infos on the actual game I played,

I started yesterday evening and played about 9 turns before giving it a rest.

In order to create the situation described in the above letters, I chose the starting position of the Buque de Plata and the orientations of Juno and Terpsichore randomly. I played with the standard rules, planning two movements in advance and so far only using ball shot. Despite some heavy navigational erros, the situations favours the British at the moment. We will see how this develops.

Apperently, the HMS Terpsichore recorded the fighting and drew some graphics:

Nice presentation and a lot of raking shots in that battle. That hurts
By the way: which tool did you use for?

Very well reported!! I especially like the graphic 'top down' mapping of the battle. In many ways this is a much cleaner and clearer way to show how the battle unfolded. Like Matthias I'd definitely like to know which tool you used to make this display?

Nice new way of presentation, Hobbes.

As i read in the report you lost one of your frigates too, but captured the Spanish ship at last.

    Well done, comrade.

Took you a lot of work, I guess.

Thanks for the comments, I alos intended to write a London Gazette article, however, the birth of my daughter prevented me from doing this yet. I will see when I get the time.

I took top-down photos from almost each turn, then using Adobe Illustrator I traced the positions, At first I thought about showing the complete battle in one sketch. Unfortunatly, due to the heavy manouvering in the center of the map, nothing can be seen on that sketch.

My inability to bring Terpsichore into the battle early on, prolonged the scenario and the Juno payed the ultimate price.

If anyone of you is interested, I could send the AI or .svg files.

A very different presentation Sebastian, and very reminiscent of all the old sea warfare history books I used to read as a kid.
    Very innovative.
