Default SALE! Miniature Market Spring Cleaning on Wave 1

So, MM's doing Spring Cleaning... Concorde, HMS Iphigenia and Embuscade are marked down to $9.89 each, Berwick and HMS Impetueux are $12.09 each. Hermione's still at their regular price, though.

For you guys who missed out on any of these or want more as repaints for Armada Building, this might be a good time to load up... sale ends Friday.

Thanks DB. I went to look for some wargames, and sure enough, they had several GMT titles on sale that I wanted. I also picked up some of the SoG sleeves.

There were a couple of GMT titles from the AoS era for anyone interested.

Thanks for the heads up DB. The site is loading incredibly slowly for me so I may wait until tomorrow to try and take advantage of the sale. More intriguing was the new release of the Tantive IV!?! That is so tempting, but I'm up to my neck in Sails atm.

Slow isn't the right word. I have been bouncing between MM and here while waiting for pages to load so I could finish checking out. The page just came up, and lo and behold, my shopping cart is now inexplicably empty. Since the SoG sleeves are the only things I need, I will try again tomorrow. So much for new wargames.

I saw that CoolStuffInc had the Tantive on preorder for $60. I think the Rebel transport with X-Wing may be the better buy for $40. Saw a review of it and there are lots of scenario possibilities.

Man the good ones went quick!! All the GMT titles I was looking for are out of stock already! No wonder the site was slow. Must get on their mailing list! C&C Napoleonic expansions 50% off!!

I have two of the RTs -- there is a scenario which requires *three* of them....

Also: The RT has *no* offensive weaponry on it; all it can do is Support tasks (jamming and such), and Ramming (or, rather, being in the way and letting fighters crash into it). It looks like a zeppelin, and is about as effective in combat. :)

Like an old boardmate who was an EA-6B Prowler jamming operator used to say, "Running Away Bravely." LOL

The mailing list idea is good.

I got back on later at night - much smoother, though slim pickings. I managed to secure a copy of Prussia's Glory II, but the rest of the desired games were gone. I also picked up 10 packs of SoG sleeves; with Origins coming up, that was a timely purchase.

I have not played any C&C game. I looked at them recently, along with the Combat Commander series - again no experience playing, but have held off, thus far. GMT does produce some fine games.

Well, to be fair: Neither the Prowler nor the RT are meant to be combat ships -- closest the RT gets is a one-line mention in the novel of some being used as "fire ships" during the Endor fight.

Tho' I have been considering possibilities for a "CAM ship"/escort-carrier option.... >:)

So after buying 2 of them you seem to be very skeptical of their capabilities. Some of the cards and energy rules seem to be interesting, no?

I received my delivery from MM today. As I looked at the counter sheet to Prussia's Glory II, I had an insight as to why older gamers are drawn toward miniatures. We can see the pieces and make out what they are supposed to be. What happened to my eyesight?

And preferably the larger scale miniatures.

for me the miniatures are 100% childhood-fantasy-fulfillment. I played a ton of counter-based games as a kid, many were $5-$10 from SPI. Back then I liked looking at people's painted miniatures, but I lacked the money, skill and patience to get into that. But now with cheap mass production and big-boy resources at my disposal, it is so much more evocative and, well, *fun* to play with little toys. I would have killed for them as a kid...

That's God's way of being kind. When you look in the mirror to shave, you don't clearly see how old you're getting.

Well, the design takes the word "inoffensive" to new heights -- the best it can manage in a scenario is an ECM platform. Other than that, it's nothing but a big target.

That said: I am working up a scenario notion involving a Rebel "commerce raider" -- a group of Imperials homes in on a lone Rebel "transport"; the scenario begins as the "cargo containers" pop open and disgorge a brace of hyperspace-capable Rebel fighters and attack units.... >:)

    What I did wrong?
    And that's why I don't shave
