Thread: Constitution in Scenarios

    Default Constitution in Scenarios

The model of USS Constitution should be out in August. Being far more powerful than the frigate models that will be available at that time, and not as powerful as a SOL, how will you use her in a game?

Haven't seen her stats but she would have to worry if a Hebe and Amazon class showed up.

Somewhat along my line of thought. During the War of 1812 the British admiralty believed two 38s could take a US 44. If the 38s were handled right, I would think that would have been correct. Two 32s against a 44 would be interesting. And as you said a 38 and a 32 would definitely give a 44 something to worry about.

Forgot to mention that it would be a good scenario if only three people showed up for a game.

As others have mentioned: The Humphreys Frigate plays much the same way as, say, the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter setup in _X-Wing_ -- one powerful unit vs. two or more less-powerful units. So one _Constitution_ vs. at least two of the British or French frigates should be a fair fight; adjustments can be made for the relative crew effectiveness of the sides (US frigates generally had the best crews, where Britain's frigates typically got what was left when the SoLs had topped off their complements).

For a hypothetical scenario: Get five of the _Constitution_s, de-rate two of them to "38s", and send them after Broke's squadron (a 64, and four frigates of various rates -- whichever frigate is _Shannon_ gets improved Gunnery skill, to represent Broke's paying for extra gunnery training out-of-pocket). There's also the option of having "proper" US raiding groups, using a _Constitution_ and 1-2 of the forthcoming sloops, going after a small British or French convoy (1-2 frigates, plus "merchies").
