    Default Dutch navy conversion WIP

    Hello to all,

Im working on a conversion of a French ship.
The result so far is the Dutch flag ship "Staten Generaal".
A 74-gun ship of the line.

The ship fought in the battle for Camperdown against the British Royal navy.

Im waiting for the ratlines from Keith to finish the model.
And I think the sails need a wash but not sure...

And Id like to add rigging aswel but not sure If I can do this in such a manner as others have shown on the forum here.

    Cheers,

    Thijs

Very nice! I especially like the trim painting you've done on the yards.

Awesome work. Great job with the pennant and the ensign. Let's see her fully rigged!

Nice job. Your conversion looks like an official ship model and will blend in well with them.

I think this is the only way different nations will be seen on the table playing for sometime. Well done Ducky
So a lot like pre-made models, but some like to play old-school. D.I.Y.

Nicely done Ducky. I would guess that you're at least two years ahead of Ares with your ship.

Beautiful conversion. Very fine paintwork on the spars, better than mine by a long way!

And the Dutch royal navy expanded its fleet...

I renamed the "Staten Generaal" as "Vryheid" (Dutch word for "Freedom").
and added a ship to the fleet called "Heldin" (Dutch word for a "Female hero").

thanks to Пилот who helped me change the flags on the ship cards and a lighter sea color ;)

both ships are still work in progress... need some ratlines and do some rigging to finish them....

Very nice work. I spent a lot of time building a Dutch fleet and am very partial to them. I think they are underated in most games.

True the Dutch navy in the napoleonetic time was one of the better navy's. The Netherlands depended much on trade over seas.
So for such a small country it had a good navy. The dutch ships where also good by my knowledge

Very nice addition to your fleet. They'll look especially nice when you add the rigging!

Yes they were. Their trouble was the small size, 64-68 gun SOL's, for the period when other navies had 74-112 gun ships.
