    Default Very Basic Paintjob

I'm a useless painter and haven't done it in years, but thought that the ships could get a lot from a minor touchup. So I got a brush and some black, brown and white paint and went to work. A few hours last night plus an hour or so tonight doing final touchup (white/brown/black cover each other nicely in this situation).

I blacked the yards and "wooded" the masts.

The sails had a thin brown/black (mostly brown) wash.

I had a go at the mast banding on the 74s.

Overall, I'm quite pleased; they look way nifty at playing distance.

Very nicely done. They look much better. Everyone who has painted the ships, thus far, has enhanced them, quite a bit, in my opinion. It transforms the ships from game pieces to minis, somewhat.

Will you try your hand at any rigging? I haven't tried yet, but I question whether my hands would be successful.

Excellent job, Craig! It is amazing to see how these plastic ships transform from toys to acceptable minis with a minimum of effort. Your fleet looks very impressive!

Got my ratlines on pre-order, and I might try some bristle/PVA basics after those go on.

It's always amazing how even those of us with modest painting skills can, with just a little effort make these ships go from "toy boat" to "stand outs from the crowd"!!

    Great job Craig!!
