    Default Aiming high

Do you find strange that you cannot aim high when loaded with chain shots. These were in fact used to inflict more damages on sails, rigging and masts?

Is it an error or is my rule book not the latest download?

I personally thought this was simply because chain shot already uses the C damage deck so it has a different damage distribution than the A/Bs, which effectively the "aim high" seeks to replicate and that by in its use the chain shot is being aimed high[er][than the hull.]

You'll also note that the Aiming High rule replaces certain damage tokens with the damage tokens from the C deck (i.e. the chain deck), so effectively aiming high is a poor-man's chain shot.

It also gives you the ability to shoot "chain shot" out to long range, or to shoot it even if you did not have it loaded already.

I see the "Aim High" as a way of making a last minute flexible decision. You load chain shot explicitly for the special damage, but if you suddenly find yourself in a position where you want to target the sails it's an option.
