    Those are mantle piece models.

    I have no frame of reference for them.

    Has anyone here ever built such a model?

    I agree, insane is the correct word. (unless you're not talking to your wife, or locked up somewhere)

    I never have, but I have wanted to for quite a number of years. Expensive kits though.

    Too much grog, what is the established scale for these ships again? 1/1000 or 1/1200? Clipper looking for his sanity . . . what? Never had it? Yikes! Its worse than I thought . . .

    Ares Sails of Glory is 1/1000 scale. Many of the ships you'll see here until the game goes live are GHQ or Langton Napoleonic's, which are 1/1200. You'll also see some great examples of 1/300, also from Langton.
